Simon Lucas is the Executive Vice President for Automotive & Mobility at IMIG, bringing over 30 years of experience in managing complex situations under tight deadlines. With qualifications that include an HND in Management Studies and a Six Sigma Black Belt, Simon has built a distinguished career. He has significant expertise in Agile project management, risk management, stakeholder management, and quality management, gained through numerous international projects across the USA and Europe. His extensive experience ensures that he excels in consulting projects, consistently meeting timelines, budgets and quality standards.

Simon Lucas is Executive Vice President for Automotive and Mobility at IMIG, overseeing the firm’s operations across the UK, Germany, China, Japan and North America. He sets global strategy for the practice, leads client development, sponsors key projects, and provides hands-on support to consultants throughout delivery.
He specialises in lean production system deployment, lean coaching and mentoring, quality and operations management, change management, and train-the-trainer programmes, and holds a Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
He works across manufacturing and industrial sectors, with a strong focus on automotive, heavy industry, machinery and equipment, and advanced plastics and composites.
Before joining IMIG, Simon led major transformation programmes at Caterpillar, where he deployed the Caterpillar Production System across 18 European sites, driving lean maturity through coaching and audits. He delivered a $4 million value stream transformation, earning an AQI award and nomination for the chairman’s award. His work included reducing defects from 25,000 to 1,000 PPM at an engine facility and optimising processes in Germany to save over €1 million. He was recognised as a European subject matter expert in lean, quality and change management.
He previously worked as an independent consultant, supporting Bentley Motors in their pre-series supply chain operations.
At IMIG, Simon managed a value stream transformation project for IMK Automotive, a UK-based Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier. He implemented single-piece flow, improved alignment with lean principles, and enhanced performance on key processes such as leather cutting. The project delivered notable efficiency gains and improved delivery reliability. He was also part of the successful Grainger & Worrall turnaround project, delivering significant improvements in efficiency, quality and delivery. In addition, he led multiple 360 assessments to ensure quality and delivery performance met OEM requirements.
Simon holds a range of technical and leadership qualifications, including Six Sigma Black Belt certification, Caterpillar Production System Black Belt, Certified Change Management Master, and Qualified Train-the-Trainer. He is also a qualified ISO 9001:2015 CQMS Lead Auditor and holds an NVQ Level 4 in Business Improvement Techniques.
