Shay Cooper is a Senior Manager at IMIG, where he leads consulting projects across resourcing and relocation, operational performance, Lean implementation, and performance management. He specialises in complex manufacturing environments, particularly within the wind industry and automotive sectors, with deep expertise in Tier composite production and associated operational challenges.
His core expertise includes production systems and factory setup, with a strong emphasis on Lean and Kaizen methodologies to drive efficiency and reduce waste. He has worked extensively in the wind industry, automotive, and polymer sectors, and brings transferable expertise to industries such as aerospace, defence, and medical manufacturing.
Before joining IMIG, Shay led the successful relocation of a web manufacturing and finishing facility under tight time constraints, ensuring no disruption to blade production by ramping up output ahead of the move. He also turned around nightshift operations at a production site, significantly improving output and quality while restoring team morale through hands-on leadership and shared ownership.
Shay held production management roles across advanced manufacturing and high-demand environments. At Unipart (formerly Formaplex), he oversaw operations in a composite facility, delivering full production coverage from kitting to machining with strong OTIF and quality metrics. Earlier, at Trelleborg, he led seal manufacturing for motorsport clients, combining hands-on production leadership with responsibility for Manufacturing Excellence initiatives, financial performance, and stakeholder reporting.
At IMIG, Shay has delivered performance and quality-focused projects in complex manufacturing settings. At Northvolt’s Giga factory in northern Sweden, he supported the Continuous Improvement team and industrial engineers to resolve key quality issues and introduce a tiered meeting structure with clear visual management. He also led the re-sourcing of composite suppliers for a high-performance automotive programme, mitigating risk and ensuring a smooth product launch without disrupting ongoing production.
